Perfect Beach Weather

Do you have a favorite time of the year to go to the beach? Personally, I think the perfect beach weather is the day when you can wear jeans and a flannel with the sun shining on you and the wind blowing your hair everywhere. But not too intensely.

I've been blessed with the privileged to go to Rosarito twice this past week. Which has been a really long week, yet also a short one. We finished painting the outside hallway of the dorms! Painting the outside of the dorms is actually a lot harder of a job than anyone would think it is (unless of course you are a professional painter, in which case it would be perfectly apparent to you how difficult painting stucco that goes two and a half stories up goes.)

I've been reading my way through Judges lately, and aside from that, am not really sure what else is new. We had Martha Keese (Brandon Buser's Wife's Sister) come down and visit for a couple days last weekend, which was a blast. We also were hosts to Lakeside church from the Sacramento area. It was such a great time of fellowship and learning and meeting new people who were just as impacted by their trip here as I was.

Check out http://www.godsome.org for some great stuff that was a result of a trip down here. They're a one for one company (sort of like Tom's Shoes) and it's neat, all the stuff that they're doing for the Christian Community. (they have facebook too!)

So yeah. Have a great week and I hope that No Shave November is going well for you!

No Shave November

Happy November First!

These past two weeks have been crazy. From the 15th to the 23rd I had the privileged of living with a national family. I was blessed with an incredible family and had a great time hanging out with them for the week.

The morning of the 23rd we had two day groups and a couple former staff came down to lead builds so that all of us current interns could have the day off. Since I was heading back to the dorms anyways I took a quick break from my travels to sing a couple songs with the groups and listen to Eddie's message for the morning. After helping everyone get loaded and on their way I headed to San Diego for a weekend with my sister and her family. It was a blast! I got to go trick-or-treating in LegoLand and also spend a day there and in SeaWorld. Lifelong dream of seeing a Dolphin and whale show is now fulfilled.

Tuesday brought about a gradual slip back into the norm. MollyFernando (MollyJo) and I spent the day in San Diego picking up supplies and doing homework at Starbucks. Wednesday we as a staff were allowed to go up to Claremont Emmanuael Baptist Church for an evening of worship, fellowship, food and hearing Brooks Buser speak for the missions conference. This was followed by Friday being able to go to the Women's Night of the missions conference and hear Rachel and Nina Buser speak about their lives with the Yembi Yembi and Biem peoples. It was incredible to get to talk with these women who we hear so much about at Caravan and yet never get to just sit down and talk with.

And for those of you who were wondering, I FINALLY WENT ON MY FIRST CEMENT POUR!!!
Friday we went as a group with Spectrum to help them pour because they had 3 floors to do. Saturday we headed out to Tribu by La Gloria to pour a floor for their new showerhouse. I love pouring cement. It's the type of work and soreness that makes you feel awesome. Which was a blast. It was super fun to get to work as a staff and joke around and still get stuff done.

As far as everything else goes, listen to the words of the song "Where You Go I Go" by Jesus Culture (Kim Walker).

Though the World seems to forget
We will not forget
Who you are and what you've done for us.

It's just an incredible song about following the will of God and the example of Jesus.
John 17: 20-21 points out the fact that Jesus prayed for US and our relationship with God and the example that we set for the rest of the world. It was His prayer that we live lives that are an example, so I encourage you to work on that throughout your week this week.

God bless and stay safe! (and enjoy No Shave November!!!)
